1. When and how did the photography bug bite you?

My little girl was born on the 14 of April 2009. I bought my first DSLR, was a Canon 350D. I just fell in love with photography after that. I can honestly say if it wasn’t for the birth of my little girl, Nicole, I would not be shooting right now.

2. Your house is on fire, your family, equipment and pets are safe, but you only have time to take 2 items, what would it be?

My computer and my backups :)

3. If you could have a conversation with anyone about anything, who would it be and what would you talk about?

Nikki Meyer. I would ask her, how does she keep on getting it right, every single time, all the time. Her photos really speaks to me. Makes me happy when I look at them.

4. What can you talk about for hours? (apart from photography)

Movies

5. What makes you really angry?

People who lie to me.

6. You help an old lady load her groceries in her car; only to find out she is extremely wealthy. She wants to buy you something to say ‘thanks’. What would you choose?

honestly would not except anything for helping her with her groceries, but if she insists and there is no monetary limit, I will probably go for the new Nikon D4 :).

7. What subject matter do you love shooting?

People.

8. If you could only take one lens on every shoot (even if you don’t currently own it), which one would it be and why?

24-70mm f2.8. So versatile, would work for any type of portrait. And you also have the option of shooting wide if you want to get creative.

9. If you had all the time in the world to do one photography project, what would it be?

I would love to photograph a wedding couple from the very beginning. The day they became engaged, all the planning stages of their wedding where they meet with all the suppliers, and then of course the wedding day as well. That would make an awesome project and I would get to know the couple so well.

10. Have you ever had one of those embarrassing moments at a shoot? Would you tell us what happened and how you survived?

I can honestly say I have not had a single embarrassing moment…yet.

11. What music do you listen to when you have to get through long hours of admin and editing?

80’s, 90’s and rock

12. Which aspect of your craft are you the least and most confident in?

Least confident in shooting newborns and most confident in shooting couples.

13. When you have to make big decisions, which do you prefer? “Flipping a coin”, “Comparing the pro’s and con’s” or “going with the flow”.

Comparing the pro’s and con’s, but sometimes and very seldom I might just go with the flow.

14. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Greece. I have seen some wedding photos where the couples were married in Greece. The colours, the people, the weather. Everything just looked amazing and I could see that the photographer had a huge blast shooting those weddings.

15. Give a link to one of your recent shoots that you absolutely loved shooting? Why did you enjoy it so much?

Cornel & Martiens, loved shooting this wedding, because I knew the couple very well. They are two of the most fun and loving people I have ever come across. This was also evident on their wedding day with their family and friends. It was absolutely amazing. The venue, the atmosphere, the food, the people. And it was also some of my best work yet. I will remember this one for a very long time.
